Captain

Languages: Spanish and English

Capt. Manuel has been at the helm of Good Day for 13 years and fishing out of Quepos, Los Suenos & Guanacaste over the past 30 years. Capt. Manuel is a prominent figure in the Costa Rican sportfishing scene and well known by captains across the country. Highly experienced in both offshore & inshore fishing, Capt. Manuel has some serious accomplishments under his belt. He captained boats for fly fishing legends such as as Billy Pate and Harry Gray and was featured on ESPN’s ‘Fly Fishing Around the World’. One of his greatest Angling memories goes back to August 2008 aboard Good Day, when they landed a 1,245lb black marlin, possibly the largest ever fish caught on rod & line in Costa Rica! More recently, Capt. Manuel guided his crew and team to 1st place in the small boat division in 2017 Pelagic Rockstar Tournament here in Quepos!

First Mate

Languages: Spanish and English

Yoxan is the son of Capt. Manuel and we think there is something special about the bond of a father and son sharing their days on the water, guiding our clients on their Fishing adventures on the warm waters of the Pacific. Yoxan has 15 years of experience as a professional mate and over the years has crewed on some of the top boats in the Quepos fleet: Caribsea, Sea Hawk & Big Eye to name a few. Yoxan has an eagle eye when it comes to spotting a billfish in the spread, is an accomplished wire man and makes a truly awesome sashimi! Just like his father, he is highly experienced in all aspects of offshore and inshore fishing and loves nothing more than teasing in a billfish for an angler to cast a fly at!
