Quepos FAD Fishing: Seamount Overnight Trips
FADs are fishing trips specifically designed for the hard core angler who thinks they have done it all. Your Quepos FAD fishing trip will one up any fishing adventure! Here in Costa Rica, we have an abundance of dormant/old underwater volcanoes scattered between 70 – 150 miles offshore. Because of the change in water depth and the congregation of bait in these areas, they have proven a perfect place to deploy FADs (Fish Aggregating Devices).
The logistics
The FADs here in Costa Rica are producing some of the most insane marlin fishing seen anywhere in the world. On any given day at the FADS, you might see double digit blue marlin along with a wide range of other game fish. For this experience, an overnight trip is needed due to the locations. We offer 1 night – 4 night FAD trips and can accommodate up to 4 anglers on these trips.
When to go on a Quepos FAD fishing trip?
As with most fishing in Costa Rica, this experience is great year-round. If you want to have the closest thing to a guaranteed marlin catch, this is your fishing adventure. This trip is not for the faint of heart, but if you are willing to spend the time getting to these waters, the rewards are incredible!

- Day 1. Fish from 5:00am until dark, travel back to Quepos overnight
- Day 2. Arrive in Quepos around 8am

- Day 1. Fish from 5:00am until dark and spend the night on the boat.
- Day 2. Fish from 5:00am until dark and spend the night on the boat.
- Day 3. Fish from 5:00am until dark, travel back to Quepos overnight
- Day 4. Arrive in Quepos around 8am.
Full-day sail fishing extension
$1,550 surcharge
Upon returning to the Quepos area, the morning after your last day at the Seamount/FADS, you can fish from sun up until 2pm for sailfish and other species on your way back. Return to Quepos around 4pm.
All Overnight Trips Include: breakfast, lunch and dinner while on the boat, drinks, beer, fruit, snacks, water and everything needed during your time at sea.
